Artist Statement:
One of things I do enjoy about art is the constant change that takes effect. There's never one set stroke. In my art, much of the time I depict a tree and most of the time the tree is myself. It gives me great pleasure and an outlet for anxiety to sit and paint. I look forward to painting everyday and many times it becomes part of my routine. I am a Hispanic male, age 37, struggling with lung disease. My art first started coming out when I was 15, when I was first diagnosed with schizophrenia. I drew my art and literally drew out the images I saw during my hallucinations, and thus, was able to be diagnosed. I am a fourth generation artist, the first of the four to use watercolor as a medium. I love to teach my niece and my nephew to paint and I will continue to keep painting.
